Goal! 3 Taking a Dump on the Triology

Last night I went over to a friend’s house and watched a pirated copy of Goal! 3. I was surprised that he had a copy as nothing has been advertised recently. And after the first five minutes I could tell why. The third installment of the Goal Trilogy, "Taking on the world", was supposed to wrap up Santiago Munez football career. Instead what we get is a flaming turd that refuses to be flushed down the toilet.

Goal! “The Dream Begins” is about Santiago an illegal Mexican immigrant, played by Kulo Becker, who works his way from being a gardener and star player of amateur team f.c. Jovenes to joining Newcastle United and playing in the English Premiership. The plot was a testament of how the U.S.S.F loses out on talent by not scouting the inner city.

Goal! 2 “Living the Dream” shows Santi’s meteoritic rise to fame as he gets traded to Real Madrid and helps the Merengues win the UEFA Champions League. The third and final installment of the film was supposed to be about Santiago leading the Mexican national team to World Cup glory.

That, however, never happens as Santiago get’s injured in a car accident and misses out on the FIFA World Cup. Instead the movie is about Santi’s two English teammates (Charlie Braithwaite and Liam Adams) from Real, who had not featured in the previous two installments, and the movie now focuses on the England national team. Bloody brilliant eh?

Not much sense in going deep into the ridiculous plot as it deviates heavily from the original direction of the film’s series and leaves many unanswered questions; like what happened to Santi’s bastard little brother, his fiancĂ©, and or his ailing grandma living in the slums?

I had read, in different sources, that the idea for Goal! 3 were for Santi to follow Beckham: who features in Goal! 2 scoring a Champions League free kick winning goal, to the L.A Galaxy and then be capped to the Mexican National team. Cuauhtémoc Blanco was supposed to have a cameo and along with Santi help the Tricolor win the FIFA World Cup.

The now defunct old rumors seem to be more in line with what was supposed to happen but somewhere down the line the movie project fell in the gutter and the atrocity of Goal! 3 was made if only to wrap up the series.

Guatepeor

Too Lazy to update right now; wasted my time reading spazzo comments on Big Soquer, will update later later..

I have finally updated this post (8/24/09) and all I can remember from the match is that Mexico played craptacular. Guate parked the bus and could have won the game had the match official not awarded a clear, penalty kick worthy, foul. This game served as preperation for the Gold Cup..

…And Justice for All

Brazil's thrilling come from behind 3-2 victory over the USMNT put an end to the unholy curse beset by the Nads when they unnaturaly advanced past the group stage in the FIFA Confederations Cup.

Giovani Dos Santos

Giovani Dos Santos finally managed to put forth a great performance with the Tricolor, with two goals and an assist, to help Mexico defeat Venezuela four-nil in an international friendly.

Perhaps, this will be a prelude to what Gio will be like during the Gold Cup. Not sice helping Mexico win the 2005 FIFA U-17 World Cup has Dos Santos been able to live up to expectations with the senior national team.

Bofo My Angel

I was hoping that Adolfo "Bofo" Bautista would make his long awaited return to my beloved Chivas de Guadalajara but with the Mexican league draft now a foregone conclusion my hopes have all but vanished.

Bautista, who has expressed his desire to leave his current club Jaguares, could soon be playing abroad. Rumors of a possible transfer to Greek outfit PAOK and contract offers from Major League Soccer abound.

Still, I remained puzzled as to why one of Mexico’s most talented players agreed to a switch from Chivas to Jaguares in the first place. Bautista, a self proclaimed Chiva fan, agreed to join the Chiapas side after a falling off with former coach Jose de la Torre.

It was thought that Bautista’s move would only be temporary. De la Torre was given the ultimatum of making Chivas league champions, for getting rid of Bofo, but was fired midway through the season. Bautista, however, would not return as he had been transferred and was now contract bound to Jaguares.

What surprises me the most is why Jagures? I do not have anything against the Chiapas side but how does a player, in his prime, go from a Championship winning club that is gunning for an international title to a mid to low table team!? Bautista has made his desire to return to Guadalajara clear; unfortunately club President Jorge Vergara does not seem willing to welcome the volatile striker back.

Bautista has long been rumored to make a switch to MLS; especially to Chivas USA where he could not only bolster the teams attack but their waning attendance. I used to laugh at such rumors but now more than ever they seem quite possible. That is unless Bautista decides that he would rather suit up for PAOK.

Bofo is destined for the spotlight but he seems to have a black cloud hovering over him as of late. His supposed transfer to PAOK can easily fall-off and instead of playing in UEFA’s Europa League we will be seeing Bautista in the MLS cup.

Invaluable Learning Experience.

"Heroic loss from the U.S."

The United States Men's National Team suffered a come-from-behind 3-to-1 defeat to Italy earlier today in opening round play of the 2009 Confederation's Cup in South Africa.

Ranked fourth in the world by FIFA, soccer's international governing body, Italy went down 1-0 in the 40th minute to a Landon Donovan penalty kick. But, per the standard operating procedure, 3 unanswered goals (2 of them by a Jersey boy, no less) saw the U.S.'s aspirations to advance out of the first round of what is but a dress rehearsal for next year's World Cup quickly, and expectedly, evaporate before Landon's very eyes.

"Heroic loss from the U.S. 3-1 with a man down. Lesser teams would have lost 3-0," wrote Omar Villegas from Highland Park, California.

Yeah. One more loss to Brazil on Thursday and the USMNT can come home with an invaluable learning experience that is sure to be a terrific aid in preparation for next year's World Cup, also being held in South Africa...

Where they will go 3 and out.

Yet again.

Mexicos fourth round Hexagonal match against El Salvador was supposed to be the Tricolors turn around, the return of Javier "Vasco" Aguirre was supposed to be much more than a 2-1 defeat to la Selecta!

Instead, I will long remember this game for Guillermo Franco's phantom ninja donkey punch to Alfredo Pacheco. Such was the ferocity of Guille's judo chop that the Salvie defender went to the floor with a busted head.

PorciNation

Salvadorean fans are rallying around the influenza outbreak as means to piss off the Tricolor. The "Selecta" fans even plan on wearing face-masks during their upcoming qualifer against Mexico at the Cuscatlan stadium.

"En ves de que se pongan tapabocas que usen tapaculos por que nos los vamos a cojer," retaliated an anonymous Mexico fan.

Costa Rica Got's Talent

"I just dont think we were good enough," said coach Bob Bradley after the U.S got their asses handed to them 3-1 by Costa Rica in the fourth round CONCACAF World Cup qualifying match.

The defeat at San Jose could very well have set the gears in motion for a U.S Nads losing streak. Well, At least that is what I am hoping for. In order for my dream scenario to happen Honduras must defeat the Stars and Stripes this Satirday.

Then the Nads will have to travel to Mexico where the Tricolor will hand them their third straight World Cup Qualifying defeat and send the spazzos into a frenzy. I want the U.S to finish the Hexagonal in fourth place and then face off against CONMEBOL's fifth place team. I dont think that's too much to hope for.
