Luis Suarez

Much has been said about Luis Suarez hand ball, against Ghana, that kept Uruguay in the match long enough to advance to the World Cup semi-finals via penalty kicks. I just know one thing is for sure it was a risk worth taking.

Football can be a very unforgiving sport. At the World Cup knock-out stages there is no game six, there is no tommorow, and there is no next year. The games become do or die and in Suarez case he sacrifieced himself for the team and does not deserve to be branded a cheater.

Ya se Desarmo

It only took seven minutes for my beloved Tricolor to lose their round of 16 match against favourites Argentina. In reality, the dream for a fifth World Cup match had vanished since the very first group game against South Africa. A win against the hosts would have gone a long way to helping the Tricolor face a more accessible opponeny in South Korea.

Waka Waka Bitches

The group stage of the 2010 South Africa FIFA World Cup is about to end and this is the very first post I make. I had planned to make more updates but instead ended up writting articles for Goal.com and PassionSports. Well, hopefully this will be the first of many World Cup related posts.

That said only one result so far has left me shocked and that was Portugal's 7-0 arse rape of Korea DPR. Even if Korea was walking around in fishnets, crotchless panties, and "fuck me" heels with a barely there top it did not deserve to be raped that hard. The beautiful game can be a bitch some times.

Zizinho Smash!

"What future do we have in Mexico, what is Mexico's future; people that are 50 years old or people like Jonathan that are young, what future does my son have there, my son is in the best club of the world which is Barcelona, how is it possible that he cannnot be with the Mexican national team at 20 years of age, this is why the Tricolor is the way it is," bawled a pissed off Zizinho Dos Santos after hearing that his youngest son Jonathan would not be part of Mexico's World Cup squad.

Interesting enough I had read Zizinho's reactions on Medio Tiempo's website and many of his supposed comments are no longer there. Zizinho sounded furious and claimed that Mexico did not exist (in the world of football) and even said that Tricolor head coach Javier Aguirre did not have any balls adding that assistant Mario Carillo is calling the Tricolors shots.

Last Chance

The match against Gambia is supposed to be Javier Aguirre's final test match before he decides which player he will leave out of the Mexican National Team. The main candidate comming into this match was Adolfo "Bofo" Bautista.

Bautista has already missed out in the previous two World Cup's and this could very well be his last chance to play at the world's biggest stage. The Chivas Guadalajara striker seemed poised to remain in the Tricolor and contributed to the teams 5-2 victory by socring two goals.

Tucanazo

When Daniel Guzman signed with Tigres UANL I was quite certain that he would turn the club's fortunes around in the same manner he had done with Santos Lugana. Well, I must admitt I was wrong as el Traviezo failed where many before him have.

I will go on record once again and claim that Ricardo "Tuca" Ferretti has what it takes to make Tigres a successful club. The no nonsense attitude the Brazilian brings to the table is what Tigres seems to be lacking. The club has everything from support to quality players. All they need is a good ass kicking to get rid of the complacency that seems to plague the squad.

Svenny

I had pictured the Mexican national team being coached by Sven-Goran but after he got sacked by el Tricolor I figured he would return to a club. Well, good old Svenny is now in charge of the Ivory Coast. Sven should do a good job.

I think his players will adopt quicker to his tactics than my beloved Tri standouts. Too bad Sven only has a few months to make something happen. And I mean too bad for teh Ivory Coast which has a very talented team. This just goes to show how a poorly run FA can ruin a generation of players.

Cheap Ass USA

New Season, New Coach, another FAIL? It sure seems that way. Starting the season with a defeat is not very promising for my adopted Chivas USA.

One Year of Fracasos

It has been one year since I started this blog with the infamous Ed Zeta who went missing. Not even his Scumbag Radio show has been in the air. Still, the blog has managed to carry on. Heres for one more year.

El Traviezo Guzman

When Daniel "Traviezo" Guzman signed for Tigres I figured he would replicate his success with the club as he had with Santos Laguna; where he saved the team from relegation and then led them to a league Championship.

That has not been the case and with the club continous lacklaster performances it appears that the fans are more than fed up. The Tigres faithful are now calling for the club's directives to sack Guzman and have threatened a pitch invasion in their next match, if their demands are not met, to oust the coach themseleves.

Team Chicharito

I shall update later, later..

Esteban Cambiasso

I was fortunate enough to have seen Esteban Cambiasso's 20meter blast to give Inter a 2-1 victory over Chelsea in the UEFA Champions League first knock out round match. The goal was reminiscent of a goal scored in a videogame.

After having his first shot denied; Cambiasso pounced on the rebound with clinical precision to notch the match winner. This is the second goal I have seen Cambiasso score.

The first one was even more memorable as he put the finishing touch on Argentina's 24 pass sequence and open the floodgates in what would be a memorable 6-0 victory over Serbia and Montenegro at the 2006 FIFA World Cup.

OWNAGE

The only words I can think of when speaking about Cruz Azul are Epic Fail. While I am a faithful to my beloved Chivas I have always been quite intrigued by the Cement Mixers which come across as the working mans team.

I followed the club in their 01 Copa Libertadores campaign which ended in a penalty kick shoot out against South American giants Boca Jrs. This is the first and only time I have wanted a Mexican club, aside from Chivas, to win the tourney. That is no longer the case.

In the years since I have witnessed some Epic Fails from Cruz Azul which I would say overall deserved better luck. And the clubs recent failures which now accumulate to three league finals lost in a row since the Clausura 2008 season are anything but depressing.

Making matters worse is the continual OWNAGE the club has to endure at the hands of cross town rivals America. Usually, winning a derby can serve as consolation for not winning the league title but Cruz Azul can't even achieve that!

Super Chivas?

Chivas start of the Bicentenario Season, with five straight wins, has broken the clubs previous record of four straight wins. Chivas now needs one more win, against Pachuca, to equal archrivals America best start of the season. In any case this squad has the makings of a great team. All that remains is for the players to fulfil their potential.

The stage is already set; for the league Championship all the clubs will be without their top players. And the team is already qualified for the second round of the Copa Libertadores. If there was ever a better time for Chivas to take advantages of the opportunities presented now would be that time.

WTF?

Chivas team Photo

Brilliant Idea by the Chivas FO to have the players pose as if they are fans for the official team picture. A few years back the team picture was taken at a Circus providing rival fans with plenty of ammo. This time round however the idea is simply genious.

Leones Negros FTW

I am not sure what is more impressive; that Leones Negros jersey reminds me of Hotdog on a Stick or that despite not being able to win a home game, last season, the newly promoted club still managed to register better attendance than both Chivas and Atlas at the Jalisco stadium!

CR9 Falcon Pawnch!

Cristiano Ronaldo scored both Real Madrid's goals in a 2-0 win over Malaga on Sunday but was later red-carded for deliberately elbowing defender Patrick Jan Mtiliga in the face.

And I missed it. I just heard about this incident whilst driving to work in the morning. Perhaps, it is a wakeup call to start watching more football games.

Hugol Y 10 Mas

Hugo Sanchez has been ranked as the 11th best striker of all time in the International Federation of Football History & Statistics (IFFHS). The IFFHS list is composed of the top 313 top first division strikers.

01. Pelé BRA/USA 560 1957-1977 541
02. Josef Bican AUT/CZE 341 1931-1955 518
03. Fenerec Puskás HUN/ESP 533 1943-1966 511
04. Romário de Suoza BRA/HOL/ESP/AUS 612 1985-2007 489
05. Carlos R. Olivera 'Dinamita' BRA/ESP 758 1971-1992 470
06. Imre Schloseer HUN/AUT 318 1905-1928 417
07. Gyula Zsengéller HUN/ITA/COL 394 1935-1952 416
08. James Edward McGrory ESC 408 1922-1938 410
09. Zico BRA/ITA/JPN 596 1971-1994 406
10. Gerhard Muller GER/USA 507 1965-1981 405
11. Hugo Sánchez MEX/USA/ESP 662 1976-1997 394

What is most impressive for me is if we take into account how much more difficult football became during Hugo's time as an active player then he would certainly be ranked much higher.

Y Arriva Las Chivas

Perhaps I am being premature but I can't seem to remember the last time I was this exited over Chivas prospects after two games into the season! Defeating Toluca, one of the teams that has recently had Chivas number, and then Tigres, on the road, by a three goal margin has got my attention.

Nevermind that Bofo is back with the team since it has been Javier "Chicharito" Hernandez goal scoring prowess that has propelled to the club to the top of the table. If Hernandez continues on this path he will surely be called into the World Cup squad. My hopes, with Chivas, however are that the Club can make a strong challange for the Copa Libertadores and win the league title.

El Bar Bar

El Bar Bar was the scene of the crime where Salvador Cabanas was gunned down and left in a very critical condition. The motiff for the Paraguayan's assult are still uncertain. I for one hope for the best for the America striker.

Ruben Omar Romano

The Argentine coach finally managed to end a year long, 22 game, winless streak with Santos Laguna 3-2 victory over Monarcas Morelia. Romano's curse seems to have started after he was kidnaped whilst coaching former club Cruz Azul. In any case Santos is ofering the argentine a fresh new start.

Libertadores FAIL

I do not care much for Interliga, unless Chivas is participating, so the only game I watched was the America-Monterrey final for a direct ticket to South America's premier cup competition Copa Libertadores.

Before the tourney began America president Michel Bauer made the mistake of claiming that he wanted his club to be the first Mexican team to win the Copa Libertadores. Refreshing optimism but it was too soon to make such promises.

If I have learned anything is to underpromise and overdeliver. Bauer now has his first Failure of the year. In any case America seems like the type of club that will cause a few headaches this season.
